The Process

1. You are going to need a dental impression of your upper teeth. We highly recommend having a dentist take your impression. You will end up with a better fitting mouthguard in the end that resist being knocked out and affects your breathing less.  (If you live outside of the United States, we require you to get an impression instead of using the self impression kit.) If you don't have a dentist or insurance, you can still usually find one that will work with you. Dentist may want as little as $20.00 up to $80.00 to take an impression. Call your local dental offices and tell them that you don't have insurance but you need an upper impression taken and model cast. When you get the impression, carefully pack it in bubble wrap in a box and send it  to us.  Make sure to examine it carefully before shipping. If it is a plaster model, it can get chipped and broken if dropped or crushed. Be careful.

For military personel, make an appointment with your battalion dental clinic and request the upper impression. Please send a copy of your military id card, (black out any sensitive info except your active duty status and name if you are concerned.) to confirm your military discount and make sure to apply the coupon code.

Make sure to tell us you shipped it! If you fail to notify us and the impression is returned we will not accept responsibility.

Send it to:

                         Bite Defense

                         PO Box 11563

                         Burbank, CA 91510

(If you already have an impression and it is less than a year old, send us a good close up photo so we can see if it's usable.)

If you can't get an impression taken by a dentist, you can purchase an Impression Kit during checkout in the shopping cart.

2. Choose the style of mouthguard you would like to purchase from our 6 categories: Graphic Guards, Fanguards, 3D Guards, Bling Guards, Custom Elite, and Limited Edition.

  • If you would like to order the Graphic Guards, please fill out the Online Design Sheet on our Graphic Guards page. It may help to do a little research before hand so you know what font, color and graphic options you may want. If you have a specific graphic or logo that you would like, make sure to e-mail it to us as a .zip file, labeled so we know with whom it belongs.
If you would like to order a Custom Elite mouthguard, e-mail us your design idea for a quote.
  • Please make sure to tell us if you have a fighter nickname and if you would like that name on the guard. (This may not always be possible due to space limitations.)
  • If you would like the Conor Heun Model, please e-mail us with the area code numbers you would like on the guard.

3. Proceed to checkout and apply coupon code if you have one.

4. Once we receive your dental impression, we will let you know by e-mail. Please note that if you took your own dental impression, there is a chance that we will ask you to do it over again. We strive for the very best fit, and if we feel that your dental impression will prevent us from doing so, we refuse to compromise.

5. If your dental impression is good, we will start making the mouthguard, The waiting period will vary, but generally it will be anywhere from 3-4 weeks.

6. Once your mouthguard is done, we will e-mail you with a shipping confirmation.

7. When you have received your mouthguard, please check the fit. If there is any discomfort or other problems, please read the Returns & Replacement Policy and proceed with the refitting or replacement process.

Never leave your mouthguard in a vehicle that gets hot in the interior during the day! It could melt and distort so that it does not fit or look right. We accept no responsibility if this happens.
